Why so cheap?
This is an auction process and the vehicle doesn’t reach its value until the end of the auction.
Most of our cars are auctioned at $1 reserve. We do not offer buy-now prices for $1 reserve cars. We do not withdraw cars from auction at any stage, and we do not offer buy-now prices for $1 reserve. There is no opportunity to buy after the auction, as the winning bidder is the owner of the vehicle.
oval.co.nz is able to sell cars at some of New Zealand’s lowest prices. This is because we do not have the expense of a car yard and we do not employ auctioneers, sales or service people. We also work in large volumes.
What's wrong with it?
Because oval.co.nz vehicles are used you can expect the normal wear and tear of second-hand goods.
All imported vehicles are checked by LTSA. It is their role to certify that a vehicle freshly-imported to New Zealand complies with legal standards of construction and mechanical fitness.
The vehicles are test driven by the compliance agents approx 15km's to deliver to our distribution centre. If any defects are noted they are returned for attention and repair . Oval.co.nz do not knowingly auction vehicles with problems, however all oval.co.nz vehicles are sold "as is where is" this means they come with no form of warranty. Oval recommend a professional inspection during our viewing for piece of mind.
On passing, inspection paperwork called an MR2A is issued by and LTSA agent – this allows the car to be registered in New Zealand. (See LTSA Certified)
Has the cambelt been changed?
Not all cars have a belt driven cam. Those with a camchain don’t require changing. Oval.co.nz provide cambelt/chain information in the "Vehicle Details" section of the Auction List.
Any evidence of the cambelt being changed will be noted there.
Can I buy subject to conditions?
When you bid on an oval.co.nz auction you bid to own. This means that if you are the winner of an auction you have a legal obligation to pay for and own the car. This is also a condition of Trademe membership.
Ownership is NOT conditional on a mechanical check or inspection. You have the opportunity before the auction closes to inspect the goods (see View Our Cars). If you are uncertain about bidding on a car you have not seen, do not bid. Remember though, that every vehicle has passed independent LTSA Certification for safety and road-worthiness (see LTSA Certified).
What's your buy now price?
Most of our cars are auctioned at $1 reserve. We do not withdraw cars from auction at any stage, and we do not offer buy-now prices for $1 reserve cars.
How many owners has the vehicle had?
All oval.co.nz cars are fresh imports from Japan. They have never been registered in New Zealand and therefore have no previous NZ owners. When you register such a car you will be listed as the first owner of an imported vehicle.
oval.co.nz has no knowledge or way of knowing how many people have owned the car in Japan.
What price will the car sell for?
Register with oval.co.nz and you will get the opportunity to look at what previous auctions went to. This will give you an indication of where in the market different makes and models sit. Remember that the condition and kms of an individual car will effect the final price.
Where is the vehicle from?
All oval.co.nz cars are imported from Japan.
Do you do trade-ins?
Sorry we don’t offer this service.
